Music online is the Alexander Street Press' collection of full-text music databases focuses primarily on ethnomusicology, world music, classical music, and jazz. The Music Online portal provides a single access to all databases; records are interlinked (such as recording and sheet music).
It includes the following databases:
- American Music – the roots of traditional American song and popular music pre-1960 (70,000 albums)
- Classical Music Library – nearly 80,000 classical music albums
- Classical Scores Library – contains music (i.e. sheet music), printed scores, and manuscripts of musical works
- Contemporary World Music – contains almost 280,000 albums of modern world music recordings
- Jazz Music Library – a collection of jazz recordings
- Popular Music Library – a collection of popular music recordings
- Smithsonians Global Sounds for Libraries – this collection of documentary recordings of music and spoken word is a virtual encyclopaedia of sound sources of traditional music and oral history, an invaluable resource for ethnomusicologists and teachers of English, containing over 3,000 albums. - Classical Music reference library – includes Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians, Baker's Dictionary of Music, and Baker's Student Encyclopaedia of Music

- The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online – the most important encyclopaedia of world music provides texts about music from all over the world, pictures and sound samples; texts are linked to other Music Online databases
