Electronic library of English and American poetry, drama, and prose.

Literature Online is intended primarily for specialists in English and American literature, but also for teachers and students of English at advanced levels. It makes available the existing work of ProQuest's Chadwyck-Healey division in the field of electronic literature (17 separate databases enrich work with prose, poetry and drama, including access to 7 additional resources).

A database of more than 350,000 works of English and American poetry, drama, and prose from the 8th century to the present includes biographical and bibliographical information and other secondary sources of information in addition to the full texts of literary works. It also includes full-text articles from some 430 scholarly journals, literary reviews, audio recordings of Shakespeare's plays, video clips, and hyperlinks to 5,250 freely accessible servers where Chadwyck-Healey editors have found thousands of texts relevant to the study of literature.

All the works are indexed, accompanied by dictionaries, reference publications and bibliographic treatment. English and American literature is included, including those works not yet available in electronic form. There is also structured access to newsgroups, electronic literary journals, metasites, author pages and library catalogues.

Access within CzechElib - National Licensing Centre for Electronic Information Resources.
