From 28th May 2025, you will be able to try out the new catalogue interface. It was created in collaboration with the Moravian Library, using the tools of the Knihovny.cz portal.

What are the advantages of the new Catalogue of the NL CR?

  • You can search the NL CR's collections from one place (via the „Catalogues and databases of the NL CR“ tab) and the extensive index of foreign e-articles and e-books (via „Foreign e-resources“ tab).
  • In the Catalogues and databases of the NL CR tab you can:
  • Search the catalogues and databases of the NL CR with a single query. You can discover even those parts of the collections that you are not familiar with.
    • Online catalogue of the NL CR (NKC database).
    • Online catalogue of the Slavonic Library (SLK database)
    • Incunabula, Early Printed Books and Maps 1450–1800 (STT database)
    • Database of the Library and Information Science Literature (KKL database)
    • Articles from Czech Newspapers and Periodicals since 1991 (ANL database)
    • Search not only catalogue data, but also full texts of digitised books and periodicals.
    • In addition to links to the National Digital Library, you can now also find links to other digital libraries where the digitised document is available on the „out-of-commerce works“basis in the “e-version” tab of the document record.
  • A large part of documents in the Foreign e-resources tab are available online. Some of these are freely available; for many, the full text is only accessible to NL CR users after logging in.
  • User-friendly environment based on the Knihovny.cz portal. If you use Knihovny.cz, you will find the NL CR Catalogue environment familiar and vice versa.
  • Full-featured environment for accessing the catalogue from mobile devices.
  • New features are also in your reader account.
    • You can now track your ILL and EDD orders placed on the Knihovny.cz portal via ZÍSKEJ service.
    • A more user-friendly view of available dates when ordering Team reading rooms and computers.

 

The Catalogue of the NL CR now allows you to:

  • Search for information about the NL CR's collectionsbased on the above mentioned catalogues and databases.
  • Easily refine your search results using a wide range of filters.
  • Select results from a specific source only (e.g. the online catalogue of the National Library of the Czech Republic or the online catalogue of the Slavonic Library).
  • Generate citations in different formats (ISO 690, Harvard, MLA, etc.).
  • Export selected records in RIS format for further use in citation managers.
  • After logging in, you can order and reserve documents found in the Catalogue of the NL CR.
  • In your reader account, you can:
      • track the progress of your loans (including the option to renew them), orders and reservations.
      • pay various fees online
      • renew the validity of your registration by paying the registration fee online
      • order interlibrary loan services
      • order Team reading rooms
      • order computers in the Reference Centre
      • save your favourite records or queries

Some functions and services are not yet available via the Catalogue of the NL CR (e.g. updating contact details, ordering the EOD service or suggesting a document for digitisation). We are working on adding these. In the meantime, these services are still available by default in the original Aleph library system interface.

How to work with the Catalogue of the NL CR?

  • For easier orientation, short help notes are included in the Catalogue of the NL CR. You can always find them under the '?' icon.
