On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the NLCR received a special visit coordinated by the Embassy of Japan in the Czech Republic.
As part of the official program for the parliamentary delegation from the Standing Committee on Rules and Administration of the Japanese House of Representatives, a tour of the ceremonial spaces of the Klementinum was arranged, along with an opportunity for a brief discussion on potential cooperation between Czech and Japanese libraries.
Some of these activities are already underway - for instance, within the working groups of major professional organizations such as the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), where both countries have been active in areas like the digital humanities. Naturally, the Klementinum tour also highlighted the role of tourism and Prague’s status as a destination of interest for visitors from East Asia.
